Managing “likes” and followers on social media

Creative Industries Management group visited Social Media Daily together with Prof. Dr. Conrad Heberling

Students of the Creative Industries Management (BA) Program got real-life insights into the application of social media marketing strategies. In the “Digital Communication Management” module, guided by Prof. Dr. Conrad Heberling, the group was provided with insights at Social Media Daily (SMD) on how to  boost marketing activities for individuals and companies. SMD was founded only a few years ago and has since experienced tremendous growth serving German speaking and international markets especially a strong recurring customer base.

With the development of social media, many possibilities have arisen in the field of marketing and digital communication management. Philipp Ney, SMD Marketing Manager explained: “Careful strategic planning, target group analysis and an appealing social media presence are all of utmost importance for growing the important currency of reach.” Thus, effective social media marketing is essentially about building up and boosting a fan base. “This, however, is the most challenging task”, as Philipp Ney continued to explain and presented tools, tips, ideas and cases. SMD, often referred to the “fast lane” of likes and followers, fills the need of particularly fast and price-effective methods to connect businesses with potential customers via all social marketing tools services (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and SoundCloud). With only one click on the like button of a fan page, a user can receive all the news about his favorite band, product, etc. and share it with his friends via social networks. This way and with the assistance of SMD, messages spread quickly, increasing long-term brand awareness, reach and results.

Social media marketing is part of the study programme Creative Industries Management and those who graduate will be qualified to pick up jobs in this area.
